I’ve been working with the MojoBlog blog component from Joomlify.com. This is based on the ultra popular Word Press blog application and it looks like it might be shaping up to the best - and one of the easiest to integrate - blog solutions for Joomla.

However, the current versions are a little buggy…here’s one issue that can lead to a few hours of headaches.

MojoBlog Admin Menu Does Not Appear
This happens when you install the MojoBlog component from a Joomla user account that is not associated with the user ID 62. What does this mean? The first user that gets created when you install Joomla is assigned the user ID of 62. Any subsequent users (even if they are super admin users) will need to be setup so that they can view the MojoBlog Admin Menu and Tools.

Steps to do this (this assumes you have already installed the MojoBlog component):

1) Login into the Joomla administrator using the main admin username and password. This has to be the first user you set up…the one with the user ID of 62.

2) From the “Components” menu select MojoBlog.

3) You should see the MojoBlog Admin Menu at the top of the page. The links will include: Dashboard, Write, Links, Presentation, etc. If you don’t see this menu then you did not login as the main admin user…or you have another issue going on (probably a security/permissions setting).

4) Select “Users” from the MojoBlog Admin Menu. This will take you to a list of all Joomla admin users.

5) Select the Users that you want to have access to the MojoBlob admin tools.

6) Under “Update Users” select the radio button, set the dropdown menu to “Administrator” and click “Update”.

All done. The users that you set as MojoBlog admin users will now be able to view and user all MojoBlog admin tools when they login.
